Research priority setting for paediatric rheumatology in the UK

The evidence base that underlies the management of children and young people with paediatric rheumatic diseases is deficient. In this field, there are many crucial unanswered questions. UK Paediatric Rheumatology Clinical Studies Group, supported by National Institute for Health Research Network: Versus Arthritis, elicited ideas research priorities from rheumatologists, trainees, allied health-care professionals, nurse specialists, patients, parents carers, charities. These were collected through online surveys face-to-face meetings. A modified Delphi process was used, which included priority ranking a consensus workshop. longlist 55 disease-specific 37 general voted on in first survey. list 11 top produced. ten discussed depth at workshop to determine their final ranking. This Policy paper will help guide clinicians, academics, funding bodies prioritise diseases, specifically areas unmet patient needs.
